Study on Influencing Factors of Bipolar Membrane Electrodialysis of Sodium Nitrate Solution
In this study,a bipolar membrane electrodialysis(BMED)process was developed to convert sodium nitrate solution into sodium hydroxide and nitric acid.Under the condition that the initial amount of sodium nitrate and the amount of electricity passed by the membrane stack was consistent, effects of initial sodium nitrate concentration and current density on the acid/base preparation process of BMED were investigated. The results suggested that the initial sodium nitrate concentration and current density had little influence on CE and EC.Finally,it was suggested that the initial sodium nitrate concentration ranged from 0.5 mol·L-1 to 1.0 mol·L-1,and the current density ranged from 40 mA·cm-2 to 60 mA·cm-2.The concentration of base product should be controlled at 1.0 mol·L-1~2.0 mol·L-1,the CE was 57%~74%and the EC was 3.8 kWh·kg-1~4.5 kWh·kg-1,correspondingly.
