Experimental Study on Acetaminophen Degradation by Persulfate
Acetaminophen(ACE)is a very typical drug and personal care product, which is widely used in clinical treatment. It enters the natural environment after human absorption and metabolism and medical wastewater discharge, which is difficult to be effectively treated by traditional water treatment technology.Taking acetaminophen(ACE)as the research object, the study of potassium hydrogen sulfate(KHSO5),sodium persulfate(Na2S2O8)two kinds of lead sulfate in solution pH,persulfate dosage, reaction temperature, reaction time on parameters such as acetaminophen(ACE)degradation efficiency. The experimental results show that the degradation rate of acetaminophen(ACE)is the highest when pH is increased to 9,and that sodium persulfate(Na2S2O8)can degrade the ACE more effectively than potassium bisulphate(KHSO5).That's because the REDOX potential of the former(+2.01 V)is higher than that of the latter(+1.77 V).With the increase of persulfate dosage, the degradation rate of acetaminophen(ACE)also increased, but the higher the dosage of persulfate was not the better. With the increase of reaction temperature, the degradation rate of acetaminophen(ACE)increased, but the range of change was very small, that is,the degradation rate remained high. With the extension of reaction time, the degradation rate of acetaminophen(ACE)increased.
