Aluminum Oxide Abrasives Production Wastewater Treatment Process and Resource Recovery Study
The wastewater produced in the process of alumina abrasive manufacturing has a total suspended solid concentration of 5,000 mg/L to 10,000 mg/L.The source of these suspended particles primarily originates from the raw materials used in production. This study analyzed the water quality of the wastewater generated from alumina abrasive production and determined coagulation and precipitation as the primary water treatment method based on this analysis.By either individually or jointly using three common coagulants,a coagulation and precipitation process for treating this specific alumina abrasive wastewater was established, and several coagulant formulas were selected and compared. The cost of the selected formulas was compared. This research suggests that alumina abrasive manufacturing companies, when choosing coagulant formulas, should not only select based on the cost of the coagulant but also consider reusing the sludge generated from coagulation and precipitation back into production. It is essential to determine if the coagulant formula introduces impurities and whether it negatively impacts the quality of the products made by the company, all with the aim to achieve green production, resource recycling, and a reduction in production costs.
