Analysis of Key Technologies for Comprehensive Water Environment Improvement in High-Density Urban Areas
Urban rivers in high-density built-up areas often face issues such as water environment degradation and poor water ecology due to rapid urban development and relatively lagging environmental protection measures.Jin Chuan River in Nanjing,a typical urban river in a high-density built-up area, also faces severe water environment problems. Therefore, the comprehensive water environment improvement project of Jin Chuan River was initiated in 2018,covering the inner and outer Jin Chuan River and its four tributaries, with a total length of 12.15 kilometers.A comprehensive investigation and analysis of the water quality, flow, outfalls along the river, ecological background, and sedimentation conditions of Jin Chuan River and its tributaries were conducted to formulate integrated treatment plans for different river sections. The project implemented five major measures:source pollution control, dredging, ecological water replenishment, water level optimization, and ecological restoration. After the implementation of the project, the water quality of Jin Chuan River significantly improved, with the main water quality indicators reaching Class Ⅳ standards. This project advanced its implementation with a scientific and pragmatic attitude, continuously overcoming technical challenges and innovating technologies, solving practical engineering problems, and providing replicable and referable experiences for subsequent urban river water environment management projects.
