Integrating Scientific Research into Physical Chemistry Experimental Design:Preparation, and Characterization of a Pt Single-Atom Catalyst for Nitrobenzene Hydrogenation
Integrating the latest research development into physical chemistry experiment teaching is an innovative method to improve the education quality, especially for undergraduates who major in chemistry, chemical engineering, energy, material, and so on.In this respect,single-atom catalysis, the frontier in catalysis field,is designed into teaching process as a new experiment.First,Fe2O3 supported Pt single-atom catalyst is easily prepared by co-precipitation method, and characterized via various advanced technologies. Moreover, the catalytic performance of Pt single-atom catalyst in hydrogenation of nitrobenzene is evaluated.Simultaneously, various aspects of students'abilities are enhanced, since a number of characterization technologies are involved in the multi-step experiment. As a result, this experiment can help students to master operation skills, consolidate knowledge points, inspire enthusiasm in studies, broaden scientific views, and eventually promote their comprehensive qualities.
