Research Progress on Advanced Oxidation Processes for High Salinity Wastewater Treatment
High saline industrial wastewater often contains a large number of salts and hard-to-digest organic matter;these salts have a strong inhibitory and toxic effect on the biochemical process of microorganisms, and interfere with the normal metabolism and reproduction of microorganisms. It has been found that when the salt concentration in wastewater exceeds 3%,the efficiency of biochemical treatment of such wastewater is significantly reduced, and even emission standards cannot be met. Therefore, there is an urgent need to adopt more efficient methods for the treatment of high-saline industrial wastewater. The advanced oxidation method is of great significance for the treatment of high-saline industrial wastewater because it generates free radicals with strong oxidising properties to degrade the pollutants in the wastewater, and has the advantages of high treatment efficiency, wide application range and no secondary pollution.
