Silica Based Solid Acid Catalyst for the Deprotection of Solketal
During the processes of organic synthesis, the appropriate use of protective groups always determines the success of the entire synthesis work. The protection and deprotection of carbonyl groups in organic structures is an important part of protective group chemistry. In this work, the silica based solid acid catalysts Sn/SiO2 and SO42-/Sn/SiO2 were prepared using impregnation and characterized using various methods. The prepared catalysts were used for the deprotection of solketal. The prepared catalysts behaved remarkably in the decomposition of solketal, and Sn/SiO2 showed relatively better than SO42-/Sn/SiO2.The acidity of the catalysts affected the protection of acetone and the deprotection of solketal remarkably. With increasing of reaction temperature and catalyst dosage, the decomposition of solketal increased to equilibrium, then decreased slightly;more Sn loading is not conducive to the decomposition reaction of acetone glycerol, while more SO42-loading is.Compared with the catalytic sites generated by Sn,those generated by SO42-is more conducive to the decomposition of solketal. The prepared silica based solid acid catalysts are excellent candidate for the deprotection of solketal.
