A Study on the Professional Fulfillment of English Teachers in Universities From the Ecological Perspective
Professional fulfillment is a driving force for teachers'professional development, but there are still few studies on English teachers'professional fulfillment in colleges and universities at home and abroad.Based on Bronfenbrenner's ecological systems theory, this study interviewed 14 EFL teachers and applied grounded theory to summarize the sources of professional fulfillment generation among university English teachers and its distribution in different circles of the ecosystem. It was found that there were three categories of professional fulfillment among university English teachers, with interpersonal and spiritual fulfillment dominating and less material fulfillment. Each source of professional fulfillment is distributed in the micro-,meso-,exo-and macro-systems where university English teachers are located, and most of them are distributed in the micro system.Positive interactions between teachers'ecosystems can facilitate their professional fulfilment.Enhancing university English teachers'awareness of professional fulfillment is important for alleviating university English teachers'burnout, improving teachers'wellbeing, and building a high-quality teaching team in higher education.
