Research on the Influence of Peer Support on Academic and Emotional Aspects among College Students
Based on the questionnaire data of 260 college students in Wuhan, this study uses social capital theory and social comparison theory to explore the mechanism of peer education in academic support and emotional support. It is found that in terms of academic support, college students are more inclined to get immediate and personalized help through active consultation with their seniors. In terms of emotional support, online chat is the main way because of its convenience and anonymity, while face-to-face conversations remain crucial for deep emotional support. In addition, the senior system enhances students'self-efficacy through motivations:infection and dedication, and personal progress, contributing to the long-term development of peer education. This study not only validates the theoretical framework in the existing literature review, but also reveals the differences in the academic and emotional support pathways and effect evaluation among college students'peers, and further provides practical suggestions for college counselors and teachers to guide peer education and establish peer mechanism.
