The positioning of urban ethnology is"applied"+"interdisciplinary",with the goal of serving the needs of society and the country as the development objective of this discipline.Therefore,its construction content includes not only basic theoretical research,but also empirical research that aligns with the development goals of the discipline.Specifically,it should focus on the basic and applied research on various issues related to the current situation of multi-ethnicity,ethnic relations,floating population,religious beliefs of different ethnic groups,urban ethnic work and governance of ethnic affairs,cultural diversity and the construction of a harmonious urban society,international migration and cross-cultural communication,urban ethnic cultural inheritance and protection,and research on cultural and creative industries.The so-called"having achievements to have a position"means that urban ethnology can only truly play its due role when its research direction is integrated into the needs of social development.
