The Department of Anthropology at Sun Yat-sen University stands as a flagship in Chinese anthropology.Since the restoration and reconstruction of the anthropology discipline in 1981,it has established an integrated training system for undergraduate,master's,and doctoral students,being the earliest institution in China to grant doctoral,master's,and bachelor's degrees in anthropology.To date,nearly two hundred PhDs have been trained.It is of great significance to review and analyze the development of the Department of Anthropology at Sun Yat-sen University and even the development of Chinese anthropology as a whole through the lens of PhD dissertation.This perspective can also provide valuable insights for the construction and development of the anthropology discipline in China.
