The Practice of Traditional Rituals and the Reshaping of Village Communities:A Case Study of the"Grass Dragon Dance"Ritual in Qingtan Village
Traditional rituals play a role in fostering social cohesion and strengthening collective power.Field investigations and studies of the"Grass Dragon Dance"ritual in Qingtan Village show that traditional rituals serve to connect social kinship networks,reinforce collective memory within the village community,inspire cultural awareness and internal motivation,and maintain social order within the village community.These functions provide essential elements for reshaping village communities,including space for activities,a foundation for identity,cultural logic,and normative order.This paper uses Collins'Interaction Ritual Chain theory as an analytical framework,focusing on the core elements of interaction rituals before,during,and after their operation.It meticulously examines the narrative context of reshaping village community consciousness from the perspective of the interaction ritual chain.This provides a new research perspective for multidimensional exploration of the functions of traditional rituals and the reshaping of village communities.
