Push-pull Internal Inspection Method and Device for In-service Gas Pipeline
A push-pull internal inspection method and a device were proposed to achieve effective defect detection of small-diameter,medium-to-low-pressure gas pipelines with gas-carrying conditions. The device was connected to the pipeline to be tested through welding, and there is an internal detector compartment above the gate valve for storing the inner detector and achieving gas replacement. The scan detection was realized by pushing the inner detector into the pipeline through the fiberglass rod with embedded cables.External support of the internal detector incorporated guide wheels to enhance passing ability, and its detection unit employed a bias magnetization-based eddy current testing to enhance the capability of detecting defects on the outer wall of the pipeline.Experimental results demonstrate that the developed push-pull internal inspection device can successfully push the eddy current detector into the pipeline, exhibiting excellent passing ability. Moreover,it can detect defects on the outer wall of the pipeline.
