Community Structure and Species Diversity of Machilus chekiangensis Community in Yinpingshan Forest Park in Dongguan, Guangdong
We analyzed physiognomy, structure, floristic composition and species diversity of a Machilus chekiangensis community in Yinpingshan Forest Park in Donguan, Guangdong, by field investigation of a 1 600 m2 plot. Results are as follows: There were 107 vascular species belonging to 85 genera and 58 families. The community was mainly dominated by M. chekiangensis. The age structure indicated M. chekiangensis population may be in recovering after disturbed. The community was characterized by microphanerophytes with microphylls and meso-phylls, simple and papery leaves. According to the Raunkiaer Frequency Law, species in 1 % ~ 20% occurrence frequency dominated the community (56.07% ). The vertical structure of the community was composed of Tree layer , shrub layer, herb layer and interstater plants (as liana layer). Analysis on four species diversity indices showed different trend curves, in which Margalef richness index: shrub layer > tree layer > herb layer > liana layer; Simpson index; shrub layer > tree layer > liana layer > herb layer; Shannon-Wiener index; shrub layer > tree layer > liana layer > herb layer; Pielou index; liana layer > shrub layer > herb layer > tree layer.
