Early Growth Performance of Three Sapium sebiferum Provenances in Guangzhou
The early growth performance of three provenances of Sapium sebiferum from Wangcheng county, Hunan province,Lianshan county,Guangdong province,and Shangyou county,Jiangxi province were studied.The results showed that there were highly significant difference in thousand-seed weight,seedling height,tree height and diameter at breast height (DBH)of young forest among either provenances or families.There were positive cor-relation between the thousand-seed weight and seedling height,and also existing among seedling height,tree height and DBH.The provenances from Hunan had the maximum value in thousand-seed weight,seedling height,tree height and DBH.1 6 superior families were screened out by the comprehensive analysis,of which 8,4 and 4 fami-lies came respectively from Hunan,Guangdong and Jiangxi province,with the actual gains of tree height and DBH were 23 .1% and 37 .5%,respectively.
