Safety Assessment of Heavy Metals in Nanhaia speciosa and in Soil of Origin
Aiming to provide a scientific basis for the development of Nanhaia speciosa industry in Guang-dong province,we investigated the safety of heavy metals in N.speciosa and in soil of origin.Inductively cou-pled plasma mass spectrometry and atomic fluorescence spectroscopy were used to determine the heavy metals content of N.speciosa and soil at first, and latter the health risk of products and the safety of soil were evalua-ted.The results showed that there was no contamination of plumbum, cadmium and arsenic in N.speciosa.We integrated different evaluation indexes, including the dietary exposure portion, the target hazard quotient and the hazard index,to evaluate the impact of N.speciosa on human health, finding harmless products to the human body.Generally, the safety of soil affected by heavy metals was under control, and Hakanson's potential eco-logical risk was low.In addition, there were significant positive associations between plumbum in soil and in products, and between arsenic in soil and in products. In conclusion, the safety of Chinese medicine is inextri-cably linked to the heavy metals pollution in the soil of origin. Therefore,to ensure the quality and safety of N.speciosa,it is necessary to strengthen the monitoring of harmful elements in soil, especially heavy metals.
