Statistical Analysis of Short-term Heavy Precipitation and Its Risks in Shenzhen for the Past 10 Years
The climatological characteristics, risk index and influence systems of short-term heavy pre-cipitation(to be referred as"SHP"hereafter)in Shenzhen were analyzed using the hourly rainfall amount from automatic weather stations for the ten years of 2008-2018 in the city. The results are shown as fol-lows.(1)The number of SHP days in Shenzhen shows an increasing trend year by year, and has been at a high fluctuation since 2009.The monthly variation of the SHP days shows an inverted U-shaped distribution and June to August is the key period to prevent the risk of SHP.For the diurnal range, the time from noon to the evening is a likely period for the SHP to happen.(2)An SHP risk index was established, which shows that it can indicate the high-risk areas in each district of the city.(3)The weather system associated with the SHP in Shenzhen is divided into five types:Peripheral circulation effects of tropical cyclones and tropical disturbances, shear and cold air influence, monsoonal low pressure, convergence of southwesterly jet streams, and easterly fluctuations at the edge of a subtropical high.
