Spatiotemporal Distribution Characteristics of the Frequency of Short-term Intense Rainfall in Yingde
Based on the hourly rainfall data collected in 2010-2023 from a national basic meteorologi-cal station and 30 regional automatic weather stations in Yingde(a total of 31 observation sites)and with the use of linear regression analysis and correlation analysis, the spatiotemporal distribution characteristics of short-term intense rainfall(to be referred to as"SI_rainfall"hereafter)at various intensity levels were stud-ied.The results are shown as follows. For Yingde, the SI_rainfall tended to rise in frequency by the year, correlating with the annual rainfall amount positively. It occurred frequently above the rain rate of 40 mm/h.The SI_rainfall concentrated in the rainy season(from April to September),mostly in May and June. Its di-urnal range was multi-modal in the first half of the rainy season but unimodal in the second half. The SI_rainfall mainly occurred post-midday.There were two cores of the SI_rainfall,located in the central-and southern-part and the northwestern part of Yingde, respectively.
