Characteristics of Radiation Distribution in Eastern Guangdong
Based on the monthly observations of total solar radiation for Shantou, radiation reanalysis data and monthly sunshine percentages for all parts of eastern Guangdong from 2001 to 2020,this study used the Angstrom formula for regression fitting to obtain empirical coefficients and tested them before computing the solar radiation for the city. The computed values were then compared with the observed ones to determine the usability of the approach for derivation of the solar radiation in all parts of eastern Guangdong. The re-sults are shown as follows.(1)The radiation data derived by the formula tend to be consistent with the ob-served ones in terms of the monthly mean radiation for Shantou in the study years, with an annual average difference of 19.77 MJ/m2 only,or an error rate of just 0.38%.Additionally,the annual correlation coeffi-cient passes the significance test of 95%confidence level with the standardized root-mean-square error less than 1,suggesting that the radiation values determined by the approach is both reliable and effective.(2)For all parts of eastern Guangdong in the study years, the annual average radiation is between 5 018.7 and 5 444.4 MJ/m2 and the monthly average radiation is clearly unimodal, tending to rise significantly from February to July before falling month by month afterwards.(3)For all parts of eastern Guangdong, basically more radiation is distributed in the south than in the north with coastal areas tending to be higher than the in-land areas.
