Avian coccidiosis is caused by one or several species of Eimeria, which parasite chicken intestine. The aim of the present study was to investigate the prevalence of Eimeria infection in chickens from eastern Guangdong. The study was conducted on 18 broiler chicken farms from 2018 to 2021.700 fecal samples were collected.Using the PCR method,an overall prevalence of 95.71%Eimeria species infection was determined.Seven species of Eimeria were identified, and the predominant Eimeria species were E.acervulina(69.23%)and E.tenella(59.09%-60.0%)at day 1-25 and day 26-75,respectively.Single-species infections were common in eastern Guangdong(42.86%),followed by two species mixed infection(20.0%)and five species mixed infection(12.86%).The results of this study revealed that coccidia is a widely spreading protozoa parasite in chickens from eastern Guangdong, and these results will help to develop improvement strategies for the control and prevention of avian coccidiosis on farms.
