Effects of Pterostilbene on Reproductive Performance of Sows,Growth Performance and Fecal Microbiota of Piglets under High Temperature Condition in Summer
The aim of this paper was to investigate the effects of pterostilbene on reproductive performance of sows, growth performance of piglets and their faecal microorganisms under high temperature in summer.Thirty gestating sows(Yorkshire×Landrace,3 fetal periods)with similar backfat were randomly divided into three groups:the control group was fed with basal diet, the P200 group was supplemented with 200 mg/kg of pterostilbene in the basal diet, and the P400 group was supplemented with 400 mg/kg of pterostilbene in the basal diet. The experimental period was from the 75th day of gestation to the 21st day of lactation, and the ambient temperature was 27~30℃.The results showed that the addition of pterostilbene had no significant effect on the total number of litters, the number of live births, the average daily feed intake of sows and the average daily weight gain of piglets compared with the control group(P>0.05);the Simpson index of fecal microorganisms of lactating sows in the P200 and P400 groups was significantly higher compared with the control group(P<0.05);the relative abundance levels of fecal microorganisms of lactating sows in the P400 group compared with the P200 group,Bacilli and Lactobacillales had significantly higher relative abundance levels(P<0.05);the relative abundance levels of lactating sow faecal microorganisms Streptococcaceae and Streptococcus were significantly higher in the P400 group compared to the control and P200 groups(P<0.05);and compared to the control group, the relative abundance of piglet faecal microorganisms Firmicutes,Clostridia,Clostridiales and Ruminococcaceae in the P400 group tended to increase(0.05≤P<0.10),and the relative abundance of Bacteroidetes,Bacteroidia,Bacteroidales tended to decrease(0.05≤P<0.10).In summary, the addition of 200 and 400 mg/kg pterostilbene can improve the diversity of fecal microorganisms in sows and the structure of fecal microbial communities in both sows and piglets under high temperature conditions in summer, but has no significant effects on reproductive performance of sows and growth performance of piglets.
