Research Progress of Heat Stress on the Intestinal Microbiota of Livestock and Poultry
Heat stress may harm intestinal health, reduce performance, and bring huge economic losses to the livestock and poultry industry. In recent years,an increasing number of studies have discovered that heat stress-induced intestinal health damage is directly tied to the changes in intestinal microorganisms. However, current study results are not always inconsistent due to differences in research methodology, sample sites, and experimental species.Based on the evolution of research methods of intestinal microbiota in livestock and poultry, this paper primarily reviews the effects of heat stress on the compositions and functions of intestinal microbiota, identifies gaps in existing studies, and provides references for further research on the mechanism of heat stress injury to intestinal health in livestock and poultry.
