Epidemiological Investigation on a Case of Human Chlamydophila Psittaci among Avians
In February 2024,a human infection with Chlamydia psittaci occurred in a town in Dongguan City.In order to determine the source of the epidemic, prevent its spread, and eliminate the risk of epidemic transmission,an epidemiological investigation of Chlamydia psittaci(Chlamydia psittaci)among livestock and poultry(wild birds)was conducted on suspected exposure points of confirmed human cases, sources of live poultry(1 three bird wholesale market,2 surrounding agricultural markets),and recent visits of patients to ecological parks. The survey results showed that no positive samples of Chlamydia psittaci nucleic acid were detected in poultry and wild bird samples collected at suspected exposure points and amusement routes in ecological parks.However,8 positive samples of nucleic acid were detected in samples collected from three live bird stalls in the Poultry Market, the source of live poultry, with a positive rate of 6.67%;Seven nucleic acid positive samples were detected in the samples collected from two waterfowl stalls in the source of live poultry, with a positivity rate of 8.75%.The investigation found that although no positive samples were detected at suspected exposure points, positive samples of Chlamydia psittaci nucleic acid were detected in both the agricultural market and Sanniao wholesale market in the source of live poultry, indicating a certain risk of Chlamydia psittaci transmission and infection;Suspected exposure sites have unreasonable distribution of pens, complex sources of live poultry, mixed breeding of different batches and types of poultry, and weak awareness of personnel prevention, further increasing the risk of human infection with Chlamydia psittaci.
