Effects of DBD Plasma and Activated Water on Potato Growth Characteristics and Yield
Plasma technology has broad applications in agricultural production, biomedicine, environmental protection and other fields. In this paper, the devices that multi-needles-plate electrodes are adopted to prepare plasma activated wa-ter and plate-to-plate electrodes are adopted to directly treat potato are used to compare the effects of plasma activated water and direct plasma treatment on potato growth characteristics and yield under different discharge powers. Both de-vices exhibit filamentous discharge, and the discharge power positively correlates with the external voltage. When matched with their respective optimal discharge powers, plasma activated water and direct plasma treatment can signifi-cantly improve potato growth characteristics and yield. When the discharge power of the plasma activated water device is 53 W, the plant height, stem diameter, fresh weight, chlorophyll mass fraction and yield of potato plants increase by 6.4%, 18.9%, 25.9%, 31.7% and 17.5%, respectively. When the discharge power of the direct plasma treatment potato device is 8W, the increase of all parameter values of the plant is more than 10%. The results show that the physicochemical param-eters (such as pH value, oxidation reduction potential, electrical conductivity, H2O2, NO3-, NO2-) of plasma activated water change significantly when the discharge power changes. With the increase of discharge power, the water absorption of direct plasma treated potatoes first increases and then decreases, and the seed surface etching gradually becomes obvi-ous. This study in the paper can provide a reference for the application of DBD plasma and activated water in the field of agricultural production.
