Objective To investigate the correlation between left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF)and multiple risk factors for coronary heart disease(CHD)in elderly population.Methods According to 50%cutoffof LVEF value,324 elderly subjects without structural heart disease using echocardiography were divided into normal(n=194)and low(n=130)LVEF groups.The correlation between LVEF and CHD risk factors including smoking,obesity,low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),hypertension and type 2 diabetes were analyzed by Pearson linear correlation and multivariate logistic regression in both groups.Results Pearson linear correlation analysis showed a negative correlation between LVEF and LDL-C level(r=-0.336,P<0.001).Multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that smoking,obesity and high LDL-C level were significantly correlated with low LVEF(P<0.001 or 0.05).Conclusion Low LVEF is associated with smoking,obesity and elevated LDL-C in the elderly.
