Discussion on Ahead and Astern Crossover Turning Trial of Twin-propeller Ship
The"General Principles for Mooring and Navigation Test of Sea Vessels"GB/T 3471-2011 requires the rotation test of twin-propeller ships:"For twin-propeller ships, the forward and reverse staggered rotation test shall be carried out according to the specified speed to determine the rotation diameter[1].However,the technical specifications of ships generally only specify the economic speed(cruising speed)and design speed, and there is no definition of"specified speed",and it is often difficult for shipowners, ship surveyors and shipyards to reach a consensus on their values. In this paper, through the analysis of the rotation test process and the actual ship test data, the understanding and judgment of the"specified speed"are obtained, which provides a reference for the determination of the specified speed of the forward and reverse staggered rotation test of the double propeller ship.
