Technical foresight of high-precision Inertial Navigation Systems
Underwater equipment are advancing towards unmanned/intelligent capabilities.Hence, products from renowned domestic and international manufacturers of Inertial Navigation Systems(INSs)are systematically examined to clarify the development trend of such systems.Utilising tools, key information and parameters from publicly available sources such as public documents, patents, and product manuals from prominent domestic and foreign INSs manufacturers are comparatively analyzed.Currently, domestically manufactured fiber-optic gyro INSs have been deployed and established as a foundation for underwater equipment to achieve high-precision positioning.Meanwhile, resonant gyro INSs remain in the research and development phase. In the global market, laser gyro-based inertial navigation products are progressively being replaced by those based on resonant and fiber-optic gyro products.Evaluation of product metrics from leading French firms,Safran and Exail, reveals that resonant gyro-based high-precision inertial products offer considerable advantages in terms of both size and quality over fiber-optic gyro-based high-precision inertial products. Thus, they can potentially displace the latter entirely and emerge as the mainstream product in the market.
