U.S.Army's Multi-Domain Operations trends from a Project Convergence perspective
Project Convergence is a learning movement and joint experiment by the U.S.Army as part of the efforts to transform its multi-domain capabilities. It aims to leverage the interoperability across services, agencies, and multinational forces to support shaping the Joint All-Domain Command and Control system. In this paper, the implementation progress of Project Convergence is combed through, the experiment's key features pertaining to technology verification, capability augmentation, and systemic transformation are expounded, and the U.S.Army's future trends of Multi-Domain Operations are discussed. It is found that the agility, complexity, lethality, and decentralization of Multi-Domain Operations are effecting a revolution in command and control.Working to establish Joint All-Domain Command and Control capabilities, the U.S.Army will consistently expand unified networks and technological integration, and integrate intelligence, firepower, maneuvering, and support forces from all operational domains through convergence. As a result,cross-domain synergy and the convergence of systems across joint/allied forces can be achieved at an acceleration, enabling better decision-making with higher speed and large scale and beating rivals of comparable strength in all-domain competition.
