3,3′,4,4′-Biphenyltetramine Modified Phthalonitrile Resin and Its Composite Properties
Modified biphenyl phthalonitrile resin prepolymer(BLBS)was prepared by prepolymerization reaction of 3,3′,4,4′-biphenyltetramine(LBS)with biphenyl phthalonitrile resin(BPh).The curing behavior, rheological properties and temperature resistance of BLBS were studied by infrared spectroscopy(FT-IR),differential scanning calorimetry(DSC),rotational rheometer and thermogravimetric analysis(TGA).The results show that BLBS can start curing before 240℃ at the lowest, but still requires a higher temperature to fully cure;the temperature(Td5)at which the mass loss of BLBS-3 cured product is 5%in nitrogen and air atmospheres is 549.4℃ and 555.6℃,respectively.The quartz fiber reinforced BLBS composite(QF/BLBS)has excellent mechanical properties and heat resistance. The glass transition temperature(Tg)is greater than 500℃,the room temperature bending strength and interlaminar shear strength are 711.5 MPa and 48.5 MPa,respectively, and the bending strength and interlaminar shear strength are 680.5 MPa and 31.3 MPa respectively after heat treatment at 400℃ for 2 h.
