Effect of Maleated LLDPE/PS Compatibilized Master Batch on Properties of PLA/LLDPE/PS Blends
The maleated LLDPE/PS(50:50,mass ratio)compatibilized master batch was added into the PLA/LLDPE/PS(40:30:30,mass ratio)ternary blend, the effects of amount of the master batch to the mechanical properties, thermal properties, dynamic rheological properties, microstructure and pore size distribution of the blends were investigated. The results of FT-IR analysis show that(LLDPE-g-PS)-g-PLA was formed in the mixing-system with the master batch added. The mechanical property tests show that when 10%(mass fraction)the master batch was added, the tensile strength and elongation at break of the blends are increased by 160.5%and 184%,respectively,compared with the simple blend. However, when the amount of the master batch is increased further, there is no significant improvement in the mechanical properties. The thermal property tests show that adding the master batch could improve the crystallization regularity of PLA in the blends. When 10%(mass fraction)the master batch was added, the melting point(Tm)of the PLA is increased by 2.03℃,and the crystallization temperature(TC)of LLDPE is increased by 1.23℃.The results of dynamic rheological tests show that with the increase of amount of the master batch, the storage modulus(G′),loss modulus(G″)and complex viscosity(η*)of the blends all increase, and the loss factor(tanδ)decreases. The SEM tests show that adding the master batch makes the blend phase disperse evenly, and the phase size decrease. The mercury intrusion porosity tests reveal that the"PLA"remains of the blends after extracted with n-heptane and cyclohexane form a hierarchical porous structure, its pore size is reduced and specific surface area is increased with the addition of the master batch.
