Tribological Properties of Friction Material with 45 Steel Under Dry Friction Condition
In order to select the material of the friction pair for rubbing against 45 steel to adapt to the harsh working conditions of dry friction,the RTEC multifunctional friction testing machine was used to test the tribologi-cal properties of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene(UHMWPE),modified polyether ether ketone resin(mod-ified PEEK),the impregnated furan resin carbon graphite(M120K)and the impregnated Babbitt alloy carbon graph-ite(M120B),and the wearing surface was observed and analyzed by scanning electron microscope(SEM).The fric-tion and wear mechanisms of these four materials were revealed.The results show that with the increase of load and speed,the average friction coefficient roughly presents the law of M120B<UHMWPE<modified PEEK<M120K,and the wear rate roughly presents the law of M120B<modified PEEK<M120K<UHMWPE.When the load increases,UHMWPE and M120K gradually change from abrasive wear to adhesive wear;modified PEEK is dominated by adhesive wear accompanied by slight abrasive wear;when the speed increases,UHMWPE and M120B are mainly abrasive wear accompanied by slight adhesive wear;modified PEEK and M120K are dominat-ed by adhesive wear accompanied by a certain degree of abrasive wear.
