Preparation,Flame Retardancy and Smoke Suppression Properties of Organically Modified Montmorillonite/Zinc Borate/Silicone Rubber Foam Composites
ABSRTACT:In order to improve the flame retardancy and smoke suppression properties of silicone rubber foam(SRF),long-chain quaternary ammonium salt(CTAB)organic modified montmorillonite(OMMT)/zinc borate(ZB)/SRF composites were prepared by room temperature vulcanization.The flame retardancy and smoke suppression properties of composites were studied by limiting oxygen index(LOI),horizontal-vertical combustion test(UL-94),conical calorimeter tests and thermogravimetric-differential thermal analysis.The results show that the flame retardant performance of SRF with the addition of 2%OMMT and 1%ZB is significantly improved,the LOI is 29.5%,the flame retardant grade reaches V-0 grade,the peak heat release rate(PHRR)and total heat release(THR)are 26.6%and 27.0%lower than those of pure SRF,and the peak smoke release rate(PSPR)and total smoke release(TSP)are 67.8%and 66.5%lower than those of pure SRF respectively.After adding OMMT and ZB,SRF shows good thermal stability and a denser carbon layer,and OMMT and ZB have certain gas-phase synergistic flame retardant effects.The research results provided a data basis and guiding significance for the research and development of flame retardant composites.
