Preparation of Polycarbonate Alloy with High Transparency and Excellent Solvent Resistant
Polycarbonate(PC)has a lot of excellent properties, but its shortcomings of high melt viscosity, poor flow ability, low light transmission rate of blending alloy, susceptibility to stress cracking in polar solvents have greatly limited its application. In this paper, polyethylene terephthalate-1,4-cyclohexanediol ester(PETG)was melt blended with PC to prepare PC/PETG alloy, the micro-structure,thermal properties, light transmission rate, mechanical properties and solvent resistance of the blended alloys were studied. The results show that PC/PETG alloy has only one Tg,and there is no obvious phase interface between PC and PETG,which makes the alloy have good transparency and tensile strength. When the mass fraction of PETG is 10%,the alloy has good tensile strength. The light transmission rate of the alloy is as high as 85%,and the tensile strength is 58.31 MPa,5.5%higher than that of pure PC.Although the blending alloy has only one Tg,trans-ester reaction does not occur, which is conducive to maintaining the original properties of each component of the alloy.PETG can effectively promote the untangle of PC molecules and improve the melt processing fluidity of PC.When the PETG mass fraction is only 10%,the fluidity is improved by about 34.8%,and the solvent cracking phenomenon of PC/PETG alloy is significantly reduced compared to pure PC in both acetone and xylene solvents.
