Progress on Research of Biodegradable Poly(lactic acid-carbonate)Materials
Polylactic acid and aliphatic polycarbonate are biodegradable materials with green,non-toxic,and pollution-free characteristics. However, these two materials have certain shortcomings in thermal and mechanical properties, which limit their further application.Copolymerization of the two to synthesize bio-based poly(lactic acid-carbonate)materials is an effective way to modify them.Copolymerization modification can significantly improve the various properties of the materials and further expand their application scope. This article reviewed the relevant research results of poly(lactic acid-carbonate)materials in recent years, including three synthesis methods:CO2/epoxide/lactide copolymerization,lactide/cyclic carbonate ring opening copolymerization, and chain extension method. The applications of copolymers in shape memory polymers, elastomers, microspheres, and scaffold materials were discussed, and the future development prospects were envisaged.
