Preparation and Properties of Alkali Washable and Flame Retardant Lyocell Fibers Based on Erythritol Phosphate Ammonium
Through the reaction of erythritol with phosphoric acid and urea, erythritol phosphate ammonium(EPA)is synthesized and used as a new type of halogen-free flame retardant.Using melamine as a catalyst,EPA is attached onto Lyocell fibers by impregnation and baking process to produce EPA-Lyocell flame retardant fibers. The limiting oxygen index(LOI)of EPA-Lyocell reaches 45.3%,which is significantly higher than 17%for pure Lyocell fibers, showing obvious flame retardant effect. After 20 cycles of water washing, the LOI of EPA-Lyocell fibers is 39.2%.Even after washing with a sodium carbonate solution of 20 g/L for 20 times, the LOI can still reach 34.3%,making it flame retardant Lyocell fibers with excellent durability.
