Research Advances in Natural and Synthetic Hydrogels for Medical Hemostatic Dressings
Hemorrhagic events pose a serious threat to human life and present significant challenges to the diagnostic efforts of healthcare professionals.Despite the increasing development and application of hemostatic materials, they still fall short of fully meeting the complexities of bleeding conditions. With the successful synthesis of hydrogels, their hydrophilic nature and biocompatibility have captured the keen interest of biomaterial scientists.Over the past few decades, researchers have conducted extensive studies on the application of hydrogels in hemostasis. In light of this, this paper categorizes common natural polysaccharides, natural proteins, and artificially synthesized hydrogels from the perspective of raw materials. It provides an overview of their characteristics, hemostatic mechanisms, and recent research advancements.Additionally, the paper offers a prospective analysis of the trends in this field, aiming to drive the application of hydrogels in the domain of hemostasis.
