Research Progress on Petroleum Resin Hydrogenation
Petroleum resins, synthesized from specific fractions in petrochemical processes, are organic polymers essential for the development and enhancement of high molecular materials.Their applications are often limited by issues such as deep coloration, strong odor, and poor resistance to temperature and weathering. The hydrogenation modification of petroleum resins has been identified as a key method for optimizing their physicochemical properties, facilitating their usage in industries that produce high-value products, which has placed the efficient production of high-grade hydrogenated petroleum resins at the forefront of current research. This review summarizes the characteristics and classification of petroleum resins, describes the features of various hydrogenation process technologies, provides a comprehensive analysis of the mechanisms of hydrogenation of petroleum resins and the modification mechanisms of catalysts and carriers. Finally,it suggests possible approaches and directions for improving catalyst performance.
