Experimental Study on Dynamic Response of LNG Ship on Berth by Using Physics Model
In order to accurately evaluate the operation status of an open LNG berth under the design ship type and sea conditions, the dynamic response caused by ship mooring is analyzed by using physics model based on a LNG project, which may verify the mooring plan applicable or not.The results show that the rolling motion of a ship accommodating for 20 000 m3 LNG does not reach the recommended value by PIANC subject to 30 ° incidence angle of wave under the design sea condition. However, the longitudinal motion of a ship for 175 000 m3 LNG is higher the above recommended value under the action of stern downwind.By considering ship mooring force, ship bow inverted cable does not satisfy safe mooring requirements subject to a 175 000 m3 LNG ship under the condition of 11 s period of wave following combined with stern downwind. Therefore, the inverted cables at ship bow and stern shall be increased by a certain amount according to the safety reserve.
