Research on Structure Plan of an Overseas Mining Dock
In the design of an overseas mining dock,in view of low cost of back-filling with mineral waste,a comparative analysis is carried out for three structure design plans, including beam-slab structure on piles, combination of steel pipe piles and sheet piles, and row of steel pipe piles. In the first plan,in order to reduce the distance between front bearing platform and rear land area,a type of shore-approach structure with unloading bearing platform is applied, which adapts to deep water level.Although the structures adopted in last two plans belong to sheet pile structure, single steel pipe pile can be driven easily during waterborne construction.Therefore,cofferdam-filled onshore piling method is compared with waterborne construction by piling ship from the aspects of technology and economy, which leads to the optimum structure plan, and provides a reference for further application of similar structures.
