Study on Technology of Removing Residual Silt from Shoulder of Riprap Seawall by Millisecond Blasting with Silt-Squeezing
In the land formation project of an airport, the riprap seawall was formed by blasting with silt squeezing.Thereafter a 100 m~150 m wide secondary silt shoal was formed on the side of silt-squeezing,which could not meet the design requirements, but the conventional blasting with silt squeezing does not apply. In this situation, explosives were placed in the residual silt at the seawall shoulder with the boreholes made by land percussion drilling in the test section of east seawall, meanwhile other explosives were placed at the same position 5 m~7 m to the sea side of vertical seawall axis,so as to realize the millisecond blasting with silt squeezing based on two kinds of delay technologies. The results show that millisecond blasting can effectively remove the residual silt at the deep shoulder of the riprap seawall subject to the charging of 72 kg explosive per borehole, which has been verified by the samples taken in the boreholes. This technology can serve as a guide line for removing the residual silt in similar projects.
