Research on Allocation of Handling Equipment in Lekki Port in Nigeria
General empirical method and simulation method are commonly used to determine the quantity of allocated handling equipment during the design process of container terminal. The former is too general to take into account the terminal's individual factors that affect the allocation of handling equipment, which is not convincing while applying China domestic empirical data in overseas projects. The latter is too complex,time-consuming,and difficult to evaluate the rationality of simulation results.Based on Lekki Container Terminal in Nigeria,a quantitative analysis method is studied to determine the allocation of handling equipment, that is,the allocation quantity of handling equipment can be determined based on annual handling volume, efficiency and time of the equipment. This method is a solution to such problems as complexity and low pertinence, can be used in China and overseas, and highly accepted by consulting engineers in international projects.
