Analysis and Assessment of Numerical Simulation of Measures against Salt-Water Intrusion Adopted for Ship Locks at Estuary of Inland Rivers
On the basis of the terrain, tide, runoff, wind farm and other factors related to hydrology, geology and meteorology as well as the operation rules of ship locks and the dynamics coefficients of tides at the estuaries of Yangtze River and Dazhi River,a 2D model for the calculation of tidal salinity at river estuaries was established so as to evaluate the risk of salt-water intrusion during the operation of new ship lock in the improvement of the eastern extension waterway along Dalu line of Dazhi River. In addition,a series of measures against salt-water intrusion were simulated and analyzed under different conditions. The research results indicated that salt water masses would flow into inland rivers under the action of tidal dynamic during the operation of the ship lock, gather in the inland river and slowly move upstream. Some extremes might occur, including the back-flow of high-content salt water during flood tides in sea area, and the cumulative high-content salt water going upstream sharply. In view of the lots of design options for the resistance of salt-water intrusion, the model calculation and analysis would support the implementation of the engineering design plan by providing the related theories and techniques.
