As a branch of aesthetic education,the core purpose of social aesthetic education is to improve the public's aesthetic and cultural literacy through art education.As a form of art practice,public art meets the needs of social aesthetic education with its public and artistic characteristics,and has become an important medium for the implementation of social aesthetic education.However,a public artwork is not directly equivalent to a social aesthetic education activity,and there are essential differences between the two in terms of value and process.This paper discusses the interweaving and division of public art and social aesthetic education,and discusses how to use the theory and method of art education to construct a social aesthetic education model with public art as the medium,to bridge the differences between the two,to better meet the needs of the new era,and to realize the value of aesthetic education.
