Historical Neighborhood Self-Renewal Mechanism In The United States
Different from historical building or district, historical neighborhood renewal relies on self and social efforts with government policy incentives. The paper reviews American historical neighborhood development and studies the German village case of Columbus, Ohio. The case reveals that only with self renewal ability can historical neighborhood live on. Public policy incentives, professional organization, private investment, and local efforts are indispensable for the self-renewal mechanism. China's historical neighborhood preservation shall study public policy incentives, and care for people's living conditions in social planning.
