The Semantic Change of"Lao(zhao)捞(着)"in Early Modern Chinese from the Perspective of Chinese Dialects
In this paper,we combine the early modem Chinese and the Chinese dialects to examine the function of"Lao(zhao)捞(着)".On the basis of describing the function of"Lao(zhao)捞(着)"in Feixian dialect,we use historical documents and dialect materials to outline the complete semantic change process of"Lao(zhao)捞(着)":dredge＞get＞ability;get＞human goal＞pre-transitive;human goal＞human source.These evolutionary processes are also the repeated evolutionary patterns of many languages(dialects).
