On the Phonetic Features of the Shang Language Based on the Ora-cle Bone Inscriptions
According to the oracle bone inscriptions in Shang dynasty,the phonetic features of the Shang language were mainly monosyllable,with double syllables and one semi-syllable at the same time.Mono-syllable included three types:single consonant,consonant cluster,and complex consonant.In the syllables of Shang language,prefixes and suffixes generally had morphological functions.The different structure of phonetic compounds in oracle bone inscriptions indicated that there existed dialects in the Shang dynasty.
