On the Basic Theoretical Problems of Country and Region Studies
Country and region studies is a"multi-disciplinary,trans-disciplinary and interdisciplinary subject"."Interdiscipline"means breaking through the boundary and forming the communication between disciplines.It has strong strategic,countermeasure oriented and integrated characteristics,and is the study of a great power.The characteristics of country and region studies in China is determined by China's political proposition and value pursuit of building a global community with a shared future.Its main task is to train compound professionals with"national generalist,regional generalist and field generalist"who are competent for academic research and practical work with firm political determination in all kinds of work related to foreign affairs.Therefore,it needs to innovate the talent training mode,guided by practical business decision-making needs,and design a high-quality curriculum system through"pragmatic","practical"and"empirical"paths.It is particularly important that country and region studies need to apply standardized management and comprehensive allocation of resources,and to establish academic community of country and region studies as well as rules and standards system under the guidance of national strategies.At the same time,this paper elaborates the historical evolution and policy regulations of the country and region studies in China,and puts forward some constructive suggestions for its future development.
