18世纪上半叶,法国人殷弘绪撰写的两封介绍中国制瓷工艺的书简为欧洲瓷业揭开了中国硬质瓷器生产的奥秘,但欧洲人对中国制瓷工艺的探索并未止步于此.18世纪下半叶至19世纪,英、法等国的陶瓷生产厂商仍不断通过各种途径搜集中国瓷器生产技术、知识、原料和实物样品,以改进产品质量、丰富产品类型;其中遣使会的中国神父李约瑟于1844年用法文写下的《景德镇制瓷书简》,便是继殷弘绪的两封书简之后关于中国陶瓷生产技术西传的又一重要文献.本文介绍了该《书简》的背景、作者和史料价值,并附有中译本,以供中国学界研究使用.
Abstract
In the early 18th century,the French priest Père Francois Xavier d'Entrecolles wrote two letters introducing Chinese porcelain craftsmanship to Europe.From the late eighteenth to nineteenth centuries,British and French ceramics manufacturers continued to collect information about Chinese porcelain technology,raw materials,and physical samples in an effort to improve the quality of their own products and enrich the variety of their offerings.Among them,the"Instructions sur les procédés de fabrication de la Porcelaine en Chine"written in Jingdezhen by the Chinese priest Joseph Ly in 1844,is another important contribution to the knowledge of Chinese porcelain in the West,following the two letters by d'Entrecolles.This article introduces the background of this letter,its author and historical value,as well as the Chinese translation of the letter for the benefit of Chinese scholars.
