Effects of Cutting Parameter on Surface Roughness and Chip in Beryllium
The effects of cutting parameters on the roughness of beryllium surface are studied by single factor experi-ment,and the cutting deformation mode of beryllium is analyzed combined with chip morphology. The results show that there are defects on the cutting surface of beryllium, such as grooves, microcracks, pits, lateral flow, chip accretion. The cutting surface roughness is mainly determined by the feed, which increases with the increase of feed.In the process of cutting, the amount of shear slip is large. After the local shear hardening reaches the ultimate strength of the material, the chip breaks a-way from the surface in the form of brittle shear fracture.A small amount of micro plastic deformation occurs on the cutting surface due to cutting heat and tool extrusion.
