Experimental Study on Cycloidal Grinding of Nitrided Steel 38CrMoAl with Microcrystalline Corundum Grinding Wheel
In the actual grinding process of 38CrMoAl,there are grinding burns. In this paper, white corundum grind-ing wheels and microcrystalline corundum grinding wheels are used to grind nitrided steel 38CrMoAl,and the effect of dif-ferent types of abrasive corundum grinding wheel on the grinding force and surface roughness is studied in comparison. The experimental results show that the grinding force is reduced by 14.2%.Through orthogonal experiments on surface grinding with microcrystalline corundum wheel, the effects of grinding process parameters on grinding force and workpiece surface roughness are investigated. The results show that grinding depth is the most influential element on grinding force, followed by workpiece feed rate and wheel speed. And then workpiece feed speed is the most important influence element on the sur-face roughness, followed by wheel speed and grinding depth. Finally, batch machining of nitrided steel 38CrMoAl gear sam-ples are carried out with microcrystalline corundum grinding wheels, and the results show that there is no grinding burns on the workpieces surface and it has a significant improvement of the grinding surface quality.
